Sorry about the download. I've added it to the site, but apparently it will take a bit to proliferate out to all of the mirrors. Keep checking back... the site docs say that it should take no more than 8 hours to reach the mirrors.

Got it! Very Nice. Not sure when I'll get a chance to check out the code or XML feed, but any chance Sunset and Sunrise data is available in the feed? I'd like to add it to the tooltip...
Thanks

db:

I think the cleanest way to get rid of an extension that won't install is to delete all of the extensions in your profile, then re-install the ones you need. In Win2000 and WinXP, the extensions are kept in C:\Documents and Settings\YourProfileName\Application Data\Thunderbird\Profiles\default.a4w\extensions by default. Substitute 'YourProfileName' with your login name. Delete everything in this folder and then restart Thunderbird... this will give you a clean slate.

Nice job on the additions to the extension. I was going to do a Weather.com version myself (even got an account with them) but decided against it because I didn't want a weather channel logo/credit on the extension pane itself.

I installed your version and I'd like to let you know that it is not working for me. It sits there infinately refreshing. The options page is good and I like the idea of a location lookup screen, but the lookup seems broken also (it returns a 1 character response).

It may well be my system, but I don't know. Anyone else having trouble with it? For now I'm going back to the Weatherroom feed, as it does work with my system.

Thanks for the hard work.

It seems that when I installed the WorldWeather extension it set my t-bird to "offline" mode. Therefore it wasn't getting anything. I reinstalled it and it works now.

Extension looks good. However, I went back to the (modified) Weather extension because of the title text "Weather data provided by weather.com" ... since it doesn't wrap, it causes the Folder bar to widen ... and I lose access to the scroll bar unless I widen the whole Folder bar. Any change of changing that title text to wrap, or make it more compact?

MhicAoidh - I've updated the extension to simply use 'Weather' as a title, much as the old weather module did. You can download it from the installation page.

Fixed link. Download is now working.

As for the 'weather data provided by' stuff, it was on there to be compliant with the weather.com xml feed rules. But, since that text is also stated in the options pages, I don't think it's a problem not to display it on the module itself.

Marco:

I received an email from Marco A. C. asking about location codes for Guatemala. I tried to respond, but the email got bounced back to me. On the off-chance that Marco is still coming to the site and viewing the feedback, I'm posting the email here...

Marco:

If you use the location code search from within the WorldWeather extension, you will need to search for a specific city using the format 'city, country'. When I put in 'Guatemala City, Guatemala' into the search box, I got a hit with the code 'GTXX0002'. For a list of cities available through weather.com, you can see this webpage: www.weather.com/common/drilldown/GT.html?from=search

If you look at the URL for each city, you will see each one has a code in it (format GTXX00AA where AA is a number specific to a Guatemalan city).

Thanks for downloading the WorldWeather extension.
Hope this information helps.

Forecasts sounds great and I was about to suggest it.
I had a look on weather.com and they provide a lot of information regarding weather.

Can we have a popup window (double click action) that mimicks the weather sites layout a bit. So we can see yesturdays stats, current stats, and the 2 day and 10 day forcasts?

Then, it would be pretty cool if the maps could also be viewed somehow.

Also, windspeed isn't usually measured in mph or kmh (I dont' think anyway), so would it be possible to have that displayed in knots?

This is a sensational plugin and I already love it. The suggested features I think will take it from a nice-to-have to a must-have.

Thanks

Sunrise/Sunset, visibility, pressure, and wind are displayed in all versions of WorldWeather 1.01 and greater. They are currently only visible in the weather details popup which can be accessed by holding the mouse over the WorldWeather pane. If you would like to know if they can be added to the 'always seen' portion of the extension, I'm not sure there's enough screen space for that, but I'll keep it in mind.

I have the proxy information entered in just like firefox, btw. Hopefully I don't have to uninstall everything, delete my profile then reinstall. I have a feeling that is what I'm going to have to do.

But, I know there is a lot of "extractable" info in weather.com that you could "insert" into your extension, giving it added value, like 5 days forecast, rain prob... etc etc.

I've looked at weather.com for a special town (Germany) and found the following Code:

Shouldn't I be able to select my town by ID "GMXX0775" in the options - or does wheather.com use different server?

The extension works great for me in Thunderbird. I would like to make one small suggestion.

It would be nice if the extension would send you to the current forecast at weather.com or another site when the user double clicks or right click/selects option on the current weather condition image.

- I agree to comment 61 - the extension should be placable somwhere else, where it is not taking too much space.
Specially there seems to be a problem with the window size - the icon and text can be set to small, but the pane still remains twice as large.
- Would it be possible to integrate a text only version? (with the properties, currently found in the hover menu selectable for display)
- making the text size selectable for "...provided by ..." could help to
- In the end it would be nice to have the topgraphic information integrated to the address book and the whole thing linked up to the composition window enhanced with the local time to see what time and weather it is on the receivers side.
Keep up the good work!

Hi There, my name is Matias Orellana, i'm from Chile and i like very much the World Weather Thunderbird Extension, the only thing i didn't like is the icon's used on the extension, so i've made a new world_weather.xpi with this new icons and a little change in the main font (verdana -> Trebuchet MS).

Here it is:

If you like it, you can add this icons (with the permission included) to your new release of World Weather Thunderbird Extension,

I hope it helps,

Greetings,

Matias:

Didn't mean to be unclear. What I meant was that Weather.com places restrictions on what can be used with their xml weather feed. One of the rules by which they let us use they data feed is that we must use the Weather.com icons included with the Weather.com development package.

Luke Fessler tried to email to you, but "got a Delivery to the following recipients failed."

Thunderbird weather plugin

Suggestion for an additional feature:
Now you can only monitor the weather of one place, it would be nice if you could monitor it for more places. There is enough room to fit in two or four small weather info’s off different places. For example local weather, weather of you vacation (where you soon go to..) etc. Or not always is your local weather available so you pick nearest place, but two or three different place’s could be an option, so it will be nice if you could monitor it all.

Hope to hear thoughts from you about this feature.

And, it initially acted this way when there was no internet connection and it was checking to see if there was, but now it just does it all the time.

Close Thunderbird. Edit the install.rdf file. In it, where it says

1.6

replace the 1.6 with 2.1. Also, where it says

1.11a

replace the 1.11a with 1.11b. Save file. Reload Thunderbird.
